This is a hack that replaces Apple's, not so exciting, "Mac OS" startup graphic, with a fancy 3-D version, like the one above. It works with System 7.5.2 and higher. It will probably work with system 7.5.1(AKA Update 1.0) as well. You will only see it at startup if your monitor is displaying thousands of colors or more. If your monitor is set to 256 colors, you will see Apple's original picture.

The main center logo was done by Jose Tan of Hong Kong who posted his original rendering of the logo entitled "three-d-macos-pict.hqx" on Nov. 19, 1995. He forgot to put his e-mail address in his ReadMe file! I modified Jose's 3-D rendering and created a jazzed up version of Apple's "Mac OS" backround with Adobe Photoshop. It looks really cool together!
This is a ResEdit patch for system 7.5.2 and above. Just open ResEdit and a Copy of your System file for System 7.5.2 & 7.5.5. For System 7.5.3 use ResEdit and open a copy of the System 7.5.2 Update file (AKA Update 2.0). Open the MacOS resource, with ResEdit, and open the picts resource within it. Copy and paste(one at a time) the resources from the patch to the same resources in the System file or System Update File. A dialog box will ask you if you should replace the same IDs. Click on yes and save the file, then quit ResEdit. Place the altered version in the System Folder and put the old one in the trash. Restart your computer and enjoy.
